READING TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A man from Napoleon, Ohio was injured Tuesday afternoon in a Hillsdale County boating accident.
The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office says it happened just before 5:20 p.m. on Popple Lake in Reading Township.
They say a 14 year old juvenile was operating an aluminum fishing boat and lost control.
A passenger, 50-year-old Mark David Leatherman fell overboard and was struck by the boat’s propeller.
Leatherman was treated at the scene by Reading Emergency Unit personnel and was later flown by Life Flight to St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo for further treatment.
The juvenile was not injured in the accident which remains under investigation.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by members of the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol Division and the Reading Fire Department.
