GALESBURG (WKZO AM/FM) — A quick thinking drug store employee is being called a hero after she foiled a drug rip-off at the Galesburg Pharmaciy Friday morning.
A man walked in with a handgun and demanded painkillers, leaving the store with a bundle. He jumped into a white van where a getaway driver was waiting and sped off, but not before the clerk was able to snap a picture of the van with her cellphone as it left, complete with license number.
Detectives were quickly able to trace it to an address in Portage, where they found the van, took a man and a woman into custody and recovered the stolen drugs.
The couple has been booked into the County Jail on armed robbery charges.
