HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) – A Quincy woman was sentenced to almost a year in jail Monday in Hillsdale County Circuit Court after she entered no contest pleas to a pair of charges in connection with a traffic accident last November that led to the death of her two-year-old daughter.
26-year-old Chloe Rae Rubin was given a 12 month jail sentence and two years of probation for Moving Violation Causing Death. In addition, Rubin was given a concurrent 11 month sentence for Reckless Driving causing Serious Impairment.
On both counts, Rubin was given credit for 19 days already spent in jail. She must also pay over $1,000 in fines and court costs.
The original charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing death, which is a 15-year felony, and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing serious injury, which has a maximum sentence of five years, were dismissed by prosecutors in exchange for her pleas.
The two vehicle head on crash happened on U.S. 12 west of Thompson Road in Allen Township.
Deputies said at the time of the accident that Rubin’s vehicle was heading west when it crossed the center line and collided with a eastbound vehicle driven by 52-year-old Melinda Margaret Teubert of Litchfield. .
Rubin and Teubert were badly injured in the wreck. Rubin’s two year old daughter Raelinn died from her injuries the day after the accident.
