HASTINGS (WKZO AM/FM) — A Barry County Judge says if the state had he death penalty, she would have considered it in the case of Ralph Bowling.
Judge Amy McDowell says Bowling showed no remorse in the shooting death of estranged wife Cheyenne Bowling or wounding the woman’s new male friend.
The victim’s mother also said she thought that Bowling deserved the death penalty, calling him “a monster” in her victim impact statement.
He was given the worst sentence the state now offers, life without parole.
Bowling shot the pair last June and then went home, poured gasoline on the floor of his living room and torched the place.
