MARSHALL (WKZO AM/FM) — A controversial class is sparking protests in Marshall.
On Tuesday about a dozen protestors picketed outside the VFW where a class was being held on how to build an AR-15 rifle.
Officials at the VFW post in Marshall say they had scheduled a session with a gunsmith to learn how to build an assault rifle from parts long before the Parkland Florida school shooting.
In fact, this was the third year they have held the event, but protestors say they should have called it off.
The very rifle they were learning to assemble was the one used by the gunman at Douglas-Stoneman High School.
It was advertised as a “family friendly” event and adults were invited to bring their teens.
About 60 people appeared for the class.
