UNDATED (WTVB) – All of the rainy weather we have had the last few days has led the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids to issue a Flood Watch for portions of south central Michigan and southwest Michigan. The watch includes Calhoun, Kalamazoo and Jackson Counties and is in effect through Tuesday morning.
Forecasters say rainfall over the last few days has totaled from 1.5 to over three inches south of I-96.
Additional rounds of showers and storms are expected through Tuesday morning.
New rainfall totals will range from one to three inches which may lead to flooding of low lying areas and along streams and rivers.
Ponding of water is possible in low lying areas like ditches, culverts and fields. River and stream rises are likely with some areas exceeding bankfull.
Meanwhile, a Flood Warning for the St. Joseph River at Three Rivers has been extended from Monday afternoon to Saturday evening. At 10:00 p.m. Sunday the stage was 6.2 feet and falling. Minor flooding is forecast. The river will rise above the seven foot flood stage Monday afternoon and crest near 7.4 feet around 8:00 a.m. Tuesday morning and fall below flood stage around 8:00 p.m. Friday night.
