COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Branch County Circuit Court trial for a Sherwood man that was scheduled to start June 12, 2018 is off the court docket after he entered a guilty plea to sexually abusing a teenage girl Wednesday.
A court spokesperson says 32-year-old Clyde Black admitted his guilt to first degree criminal sexual conduct. In exchange for his plea, three other first degree C.S.C. counts will be dismissed by prosecutors.
Black is scheduled to be sentenced July 16, 2018.
Black’s 35-year-old wife Katrina was a co-defendant in the case. She was ordered to serve 38 months to 10 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after she entered a no contest plea to second degree child abuse. She was originally charged with four counts for alleged sex crimes involving a 14-year-old girl.
According to court documents, the Blacks were arrested following a Michigan State Police investigation into accusations they allegedly tried to teach sex education to the girl in the case.
