SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN (WKZO AM/FM) — After hitting shelves earlier this month for the first time, recreational marijuana will now be available for home delivery in Michigan.
The first three recreational marijuana businesses catering to those at home have been given the OK to start operating.
The recently licensed services include Lit Provisionary in Evart, Battle Creek Provisioning in Battle Creek, and Nature’s Releaf in Burton near the Flint area.
Additionally Funny Florist, a floral boutique in Kalamazoo, has started offering marijuana edibles in the form of donated gifts for those looking to send a THC-laced treat. They say that because the purchase does not count as a direct recreational purchase for the buyer, they’re currently able to continue the unique delivery service without jumping through the often fustrating bureaucratic process.
The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs says the aforementioned businesses were approved for delivery just this week.
Procedures remain similar to those mandated for previous medical marijuana services set-up in recent years. Customers will have to sign up online inorder to schedule deliveries, and provide proof of personal ID to verify that they are over 21 years of age.
The state has currently set the amount available for purchase at one time at 2.5 ounces, and 15 grams for any marijuana concentrate product.
Delivery drivers will have to follow more stringent regulations, including an age limit barring those under 21 from carrying product and maxing out the amount on hand at 15 ounces.
