GIRARD MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police say it appears a Quincy man had been drinking and was driving his 2004 Mustang at a high rate of speed when he was killed over the weekend in a single car crash in Branch County’s Girard Township. It happened shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday on Old 27 north of Coldwater near Hyannis Drive.
Troopers said 26-year old Robert Sizemore, Jr. was southbound when his vehicle ran off the road and hit an electrical pole, snapping it off. The car then crossed into a front yard and was cut in half after wrapping around a tree. When police arrived, they found Sizemore trapped in the wreckage with his seat belt on. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation. Troopers were assisted by the Coldwater Police and Fire Departments, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Deputies, and LifeCare Ambulance.
