KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — Theresa Petto sits in the Kalamazoo County Jail charged with murder, but one west Michigan investigator is wondering if she has done it before.
Hastings Police Chief Jeff Pratt says he was a detective four years ago when the three week old infant belonging to Petto and her then boyfriend died under suspicious circumstances, but they were never able to prove anything.
Portage police say it was jealousy over that same boyfriend on the anniversary of the baby’s death that drove Petto to shoot and kill 25-year-old Rachel Drafta.
Pratt tells TV-3 that he plans to interview Petto again about the death of the baby, but right now her attorney won’t allow it. But he can wait until after Kalamazoo concludes its prosecution.
