OSHTEMO (WKZO-AM) — A man who claimed he didn’t know a .22-caliber rifle was loaded before he fatally shot his girlfriend in the back of the head has been sentenced to 15 to 50 years in prison.
While in Kalamazoo County Circuit Court on Monday, 21-year-old Korbin Thomas apologized for killing Jazmyne Gibson, saying he recklessly handled the firearm at her residence in Oshtemo last January.
He pleaded guilty to murder back in February after cutting a deal with prosecutors.
