CLARENDON TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — Deer season is over for a 21-year-old hunter who accidentally shot himself in Calhoun County on the first day of the firearm season.
Investigators say the Homer man was trying to take off his jacket in the unusually mild conditions when he accidentally dropped his 12-gauge shotgun.
It discharged on impact, shooting him in the chest. The wound was non-life threatning.
The incident occurred in the 22-thousand block of West Drive South in Clarendon Township about 10 a.m. Sunday.
The victim was airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo for surgery. His name and condition have not been released.
