BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – A 46-year-old Coldwater man who was out on parole is being held in the Calhoun County Jail on multiple charges following a police pursuit that went through Calhoun and Kalamazoo Counties on Friday night.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department reports that deputies in Pennfield tried to stop a vehicle at about 6:00pm for improper plates.
They say the driver refused to stop and tried to elude deputies and Battle Creek Police.
The pursuit continued on county roads in Calhoun and Kalamazoo Counties and eventually onto west bound I-94.
The driver of the vehicle drove off the highway in the area of the 72 mile marker, exited his vehicle and was apprehended after a short foot chase.
Deputies say they saw the driver and an occupant of the vehicle throwing unknown items out.
This case is still under investigation. Deputies were assisted by Battle Creek Police, Portage Police, Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office and the DNR.
