BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is warning homeowners to beware of a telephone scam from someone identifying themselves as a law enforcement officer, demanding the citizen immediately pay a fee for failing to appear in court on their outstanding warrants.
Sheriff Matt Saxton said that is not how they do business. Saxton said any caller making the claim is a scam artist.
He’s urging people to not give out personal information and hang up.
If you have already been scammed, they would like you to contact local authorities to begin a proper investigation.
The number for the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is (269) 781-0880.
