COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Concord woman was injured Monday when her jet ski exploded on Coldwater Lake and caught on fire.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says the incident happened at about 12:30 p.m. on the north end of the lake near Lake Drive and Warren Road. The jet ski was fully engulfed in flames when deputies arrived.
23-year-old Courtlyn Marie Kaley was ejected from the jet ski after the explosion. Kaley was taken to shore where she was tended to by an off duty Emergency Room Doctor.
She was later taken to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo where at last report was listed in good condition.
According a preliminary investigation, the jet ski stalled and the explosion took place while the rider attempted to re‐start it.
The incident remains under investigation. Lakeland firefighters, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Lifecare Ambulance assisted the Sheriff’s Department.
