KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Businesses throughout the Kalamazoo area say their “Teddy Bear Posse” bins are overflowing just a week after the formal start of the promotion.
“We have people showing up with bags of these things and it’s awesome,” Kalamazoo County Sheriff Rick Fuller said. “We have a lot of places to put them. We have a lot of police cars, fire trucks and ambulances that will start carrying these things.”
Fuller also said the critters will be put to good use.
“They’re great to help a child that has suffered a traumatic event,” Fuller said. “They’re also great to help a child relax around law enforcement or firefighters when there could be a less-than-traumatic event going on.”
It runs through Sept. 15.
