STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – A Sturgis man was seriously injured Tuesday morning when his vehicle crashed into a tree.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department says 28-year-old Jack Ruth was traveling west on Fawn River Road near Antler Rd when he lost control of his vehicle on the snowy and icy road.
The vehicle went off the road and hit a tree on the driver’s side.
Ruth had to be freed from the vehicle by rescue crews. He was transported by Life Care Ambulance to Sturgis Hospital.
It was found that Ruth was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Alcohol was not a factor.
Sturgis Police, Tri-Township Fire, Life Care Ambulance and Sturgis Towing assisted the Sheriff’s Department.
