CASS COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — A pair of crashes in Cass County just 15 minutes apart kept Sheriff’s deputies on Sunday.
They believe alcohol was a factor in a crash at 11:55 a.m. that sent 39-year-old Fabian Hernandez Jimenez of South Bend off U.S. 12 in Milton Township and into a tree.
Jimenez was belted in. He was taken to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac for treatment.
Just a few minutes later, Amanda Ahmed, a 32-year-old woman from Niles, lost control of her vehicle on Carberry Road, crossed the center line and struck a utility pole on the opposite side of the road.
She was not using alcohol, but was also not belted in. She required treatment at Lakeland Hospital in Niles.
Both crashes remain under investigation.
