CONSTANTINE, MI (WTVB) – Two men were taken into custody late Saturday night in St. Joseph County when a traffic stop turned into a large drug bust.
Michigan State Police say they stopped a car for going 73 miles an hour in a 55 mile per hour zone on U.S. 131 near Drummond Road in Constantine Township.
Troopers say they saw indications the 24-year-old driver from Three Rivers and a 24-year-old passenger from Champaign, Illinois had been using drugs.
Both occupants were detained and the vehicle was searched. Troopers report they found numerous bag of marijuana packaged for sale.
Also found was powder and crystal methamphetamines and Schedule 4 prescription tablets. There was also paraphernalia found in the car that was consistent with drug sales.
Both the driver and passenger were arrested. They were charged with Possession with the Intent to Deliver Marijuana, Possession of Methamphetamines, and Possession of Analogues. All of which are felony charges. They were lodged in the St. Joseph County Jail. Their names were withheld pending court appearances.
