KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety officers were trolling for speeders in the 1400 block of Alamo Avenue on the hilly portion near Douglas after complaints from homeowners when they caught a big fish.
They stopped a car for speeding and as they approached it, the smell of burning marijuana was obvious.
They asked the 31-year-old driver, a man from Indiana, to exit the vehicle and soon after a struggle began. He had to be subdued and cuffed.
They found a Taurus .40 caliber semi-automatic in the vehicle, which had been reported stolen in Portage. They found a second gun in the trunk.
Early Tuesday morning, the man was arrested for being a felon in possession of firearms, receiving and concealing stolen property, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of marijuana, resisting and obstructing and driving without a license.
