BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — A man who allegedly ended up in a shoot-out with police after a bad break-up with his girlfriend, has been ordered to stand trial for a dozen charges. His preliminary hearing was this week.
Police were looking for 47-year-old Trend Davis because he had allegedly broken into his ex-girlfriend’s home to retrieve his property over the 4th of July weekend. He fled the home and traveled back to Battle Creek, where he was spotted and a pursuit began.
Police say that Davis pulled to a stop during the pursuit at Van Buren an Elm Streets, took out a gun and in the exchange of bullets that followed, Davis was hit twice. The officers were not hit, but their cruisers were damaged.
Davis was ordered to be tried for multiple gun charges, for causing damage to police property, fleeing and eluding, and two counts of attempting to murder police officers.
Ironically not among the charges is the home invasion count that motivated Davis to flee in the first place, because his ex-girlfriend declined to seek prosecution.
Davis is being held on $500,000 bond.
