MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – A Tennessee motorcyclist suffered what the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department called a serious head injury Thursday afternoon in an accident on I-69 near Marshall.
The Sheriff’s Department says the crash happened when the rear tire on the motorcycle blew out just before 3:00 p.m. on the northbound side of the interstate just north of Michigan Avenue causing the unnamed 45-year-old motorcyclist to lose control.
Deputies say he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The injured man was airlifted by West Michigan Air Care to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.
The accident caused traffic on northbound I-69 to come to a standstill.
