FLESHER FIELD (WKZO AM/FM) — There was an illuminated balloon launch in Oshtemo last night to remember the five teens who died in a fiery crash nearly a month ago now, and to refute some of the negative social media that has been generated since.
The young driver was going about 100MPH when he lost control and their car struck a tree in Comstock township. Organizers Samantha Chamberlain and Nancy Miller sold the balloons, all the proceeds going to the families.
They would like to make it an annual event to remind teens to drive safely.
Patrice Hillsman, the mother of crash victim Alexis Hillsman was there to support the positive activity, and to celebrate the life of her daughter and all five who died.
The crash remains under investigation.
