UNDATED (WTVB) – A lot of kids and teachers around southwest Michigan will spend a miserable weekend battling the flu bug.
Tekonsha Schools has joined the growing list that will be closed Friday due to illness.
Kalamazoo, Comstock and Parchment have already been closed, and will stay closed on Friday.
Schools throughout the Battle Creek area are closed. That includes Battle Creek Public Schools, Pennfield, Harper Creek and Lakeview.
The flu bug has also forced Galesburg-Augusta, Colon, Bangor and Lawrence schools to shut down until Monday.
A big problem facing school officials is the shortage of substitute teachers. There are just enough subs available because of the number of staff members who have gotten sick.
