EAST LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — MSU Interim President John Engler has announced he will attempt to fire William Strampel, the Dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Larry Nassar’s former boss.
Strampel has been on medical leave for a couple of months, and reportedly planned to retire. He was also the target of a controversial raid by the Attorney General’s office a week ago Friday, by agents who removed documents from his office.
Strampel is suspected of failing to monitor Nassar’s activities after an investigation suggested he must avoid skin on skin contact and never do a procedure without a nurse present.
As many as a dozen girls reported they were sexually abused after that order. Engler first has to try and revoke Strampel’s tenure. Then he can be fired.
