THREE RIVERS, MI (WTVB) – In yet another indication that things are getting back to normal on area waterways, the National Weather Service says the Flood Warning for the St. Joseph River at Three Rivers affecting Branch, St. Joseph and Elkhart Counties has been cancelled.
It had been in effect for almost three weeks after the region was hit with a double whammy of heavy rain and a rapidly melting snowpack during the week of February 19, 2018.
Major flooding took place when the river got as high as four feet above flood stage. It gradually went down over the last couple of weeks.
At 11:00 p.m. Sunday night the St. Joseph River at Three Rivers had finally dropped to its seven foot flood stage. It went below flood stage about 12 hours later and the flood warning was cancelled Monday morning.
