ARLINGTON, TX (WTVB) – The Detroit Lions have the 20th overall pick in the first round of the NFL Draft, which begins tonight in Arlington Texas. Detroit is expected to shore up their defensive line and could select defensive end Marcus Davenport out of Texas-San Antonio tonight.
Other players who could be the Lions first pick include guard Will Hernandez from UTEP, defensive end Harold Landry from Boston College, linebacker Leighton Vander Esch out of Boise State, defensive tackle Taven Bryan from Florida and defensive tackle Da’Ron Payne from Alabama.
The Cleveland Browns have the overall number one pick in this year’s draft.
The Lions have released dates and times for the team’s 2018 preseason schedule. Detroit will open exhibition play on the road Friday August 10 in Oakland against the Raiders at 10:30 p.m. and host the New York Giants at 7 p.m. at Ford Field August 17.
Detroit will travel to Tampa Bay Week Three for a nationally televised matchup with the Buccaneers at 8 p.m. August 24 and then close out the preseason at home against the Cleveland Browns at 7 p.m. on August 30.
