BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — The teenager suspected in the shooting death of 22-year-old Khari Davis a week ago today has been charged with first degree premeditated murder.
Davion Brown was ordered held without bond after it was disclosed that the 18-year-old suspect had an extensive juvenile record, and in fact has a pending drug charge.
Brown turned himself in after his family retained a lawyer, who negotiated the terms of his surrender on Sunday. Brown didn’t say much during his video arraignment.
Davis was shot twice in the head as he sat in an SUV parked but running near Claude Evans Park in the evening. He faces up to life without parole if convicted.
It may have been linked to two other shootings in the Battle Creek area in the last week, including a shooting that sent a stray bullet into a school filled with children. Detectives have hinted that more people may be involved and more arrests may be coming.
