COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A pole barn and all of its contents north of Coldwater was destroyed by fire last night. The blaze at 425 Jonesville Road just east of Old 27 was reported to Branch County Central Dispatch shortly after 7:30 by property owner Scott Elkins who told 911 the structure was engulfed in flames.
Elkins owns VIP Auto Body and Collision in Coldwater. His Facebook page showed photos of the barn up in flames. Elkins said he lost everything inside, including a tow truck.
The Coldwater Fire Department was on scene for more than three hours. They received mutual aid from the Quincy Fire Department. No injuries were reported.
While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, it’s believed a garage gas heater caused the blaze.
An exact dollar amount on the damage has not been determined but it said to be substantial.
