TEXAS TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — The Cracker Barrel restaurant and Old Country Store just off 9th and I-94 in Texas Township has closed for good because a reoccurring strain of salmonella that they have been unable to eradicate.
The operators say they have been working with health officials and made “substantial upgrades to the store and its procedures” but cannot guarantee that it won’t reappear.
They aren’t saying how many will lose their jobs, only that they will be working with the former staff to help them find new positions.
The Cracker Barrel chain also has restaurants in Battle Creek and Stevensville that are not impacted by the problem. They say it’s the Kalamazoo location, not the food supply.
