UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Four people were injured over the weekend in a two car crash in Branch County’s Union Township. Michigan State Police are investigating the collision that happened at the intersection of Burlington and Girard roads shortly after 2:00 p.m. Saturday.
Troopers say a 34-year old Battle Creek woman who was driving alone in her Chevy Malibu was southbound when she ran the stop sign on Burlington Road. Her car struck the passenger side of a Ford Flex that was headed west on Girard Road.
State Police said the SUV was being driven by a 31-year old woman from Kinderhook Township. A front seat passenger was a 24-year old man from Coldwater, while there was a 2-year old female in an approved child safety seat riding in the passenger side back seat.
The infant and the two adults in the SUV were taken by Life Care Ambulance to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital for treatment of their injuries. There’s no word on their conditions. Troopers said the driver of the other car was taken by private vehicle to the Veterans Hospital in Battle Creek for treatment.
No names have been released.
State Police said neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected as a possible contributing cause to the accident. Also assisting at the scene were Branch County Sheriff’s deputies and the Union City Fire Department.
