KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — UPDATE: New room and board rates for Arcadia Flats, the newest student housing project on the campus of Western Michigan University, have been approved by the WMU Board of Trustees.
Arcadia Flats is a six-story facility that will house up to 353 students. Monthly rent rates will range from $585 to $1,200 depending on the floor plan. Some of the apartment floor plans will be pre-furnished.
The new building will replace the former Elmwood Apartments on the Western campus, which were demolished last year.
Arcadia Flats will be open to students beginning in the 20-21 school year.

The Western Michigan University Board of Trustees is preparing for a meeting that will be taking place Wednesday, Nov. 6th.
According to an official press release, the board will be discussing the following topics, among others:
- documents regarding the Asylum Lake Preserve,
- WMU apartment rates for 2020-21,
- an interim amendment to the residency policy for admissions; and
- strategy for graduate tuition rates.
The press release notes that the board also will act on consent items that include reports on curricular changes, personnel moves, and research and innovation
