KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A new animal shelter is now open in Kalamazoo County as of Tuesday.
The new shelter, which covers over 16,000 square feet, is the result of an almost $5 million project.
The new facility can house almost 200 dogs and cats. It features various treatment and grooming rooms, plus outdoor excercise areas and a new ventilation system.
The ventilation system circulates fresh air for the animals multiple times per hour.
The new facility replaces the original one which was built in 1984. Officials say the original facility served over 3,000 animals per year.
In celebration, the shelter will be hosting an open house November 23rd. More information can be found here.
