COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The case of a Coldwater area man who has been charged in connection with the June 3, 2018 death of a man in his Ovid Township home was bound over to Branch County Circuit Court Thursday.
A court official says 41-year-old Chad Danbury waived his preliminary exam. Danbury is scheduled to appear for a pretrial conference in Circuit Court March 2, 2020. He has been charged with second degree murder and assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.
Not guilty pleas were entered on Danbury’s behalf during his arraignment.
Danbury is free after posting a $250,000 surety bond. It was agreed by the two sides during his arraignment that he could travel for his job as long as it was work related.
36-year-old Grant Gregory Morrison died at his home in the 400 block of Morning Glory Lane, where Michigan State Police investigators say a fight took place between Morrison and Danbury.
Danbury surrendered at the Branch County Jail October 27, 2019 after the Branch County Prosecutor’s Office filed the charges.
Former Prosecutor Ralph Kimble declined to press charges last year because he felt there was no criminal intent on Danbury’s part. The charges were later filed after a further investigation by Michigan State Police.
