KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety officers are searching for a suspect involved a drive-by shooting that took place in the city’s Edison Neighborhood.
First responders were dispatched to the 900 block of Jackson Street near Sheldon Street around 12:30 p.m. Monday after a report of several shots fired.
When they arrived they located several spent shell casings and spoke with several witnesses who claimed that they heard four to five gunshots. Two other people also said that a vehicle drove past their house and the suspect inside pointed a handgun out the window and fired several gunshots at them.
Nobody was injured during the incident. Security footage shows the suspect’s vehicle may be a gray Chevrolet Malibu between the years of 2004 and 2008.
Then, about four and a half hours later officers were on patrol in the area of Stockbridge Avenue and Burdick Street around 5 p.m. Monday when they heard several gunshots to the south.
Witnesses told authorities that the shots were fired near the intersection of Alcott Street and Burdick Street, but there was no evidence or victims at the scene.
There is no suspect or vehicle description for the second reported shooting and it’s unclear if the two incidents are related.
