GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Forecasts for several inches of snow in the region have shifted, in fact, many areas in West Michigan will likely not see any snow at all. Forecast snowfall is now aimed more at the southeast side of the state and areas in northern Indiana and Ohio.
But cold temperatures are expected and the National Weather Service issued a Freeze Warning that will go into effect for all counties in West Michigan (Allegan, Barry, Calhoun, Clinton, Eaton, Gratiot, Ingham, Ionia, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Kent, Montcalm, Muskegon, Ottawa and Van Buren) for Tuesday evening 8:00 p.m. until 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning.
During the advisory period, sub-freezing temperatures in the mid-20s are expected both Tuesday and Wednesday during the overnight hours. Slightly warmer temperatures are possible along the Lake Michigan shoreline, mainly on Wednesday night.
Widespread freezing conditions are expected to cause some damage to budding fruit trees and other sensitive vegetation. Crop losses are possible and the cold temperatures could damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
By Thursday afternoon, temperatures will rebound into the 50s and will be near 60 during the day on Friday.
