KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Battle Creek man who was charged in a Kalamazoo Township shooting last year has pleaded guilty to lesser charges, according to an update from MLive Monday.
Previously, 27-year-old James Cantrell had been arrested following a shooting in Kalamazoo Township in September of last year.
The victim in that case suffered non life-threatening injuries, according to police at the time. Cantrell later turned himself in to authorities.
On Monday, MLive reported that Cantrell pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor Assault and Battery charge in late August, meaning other charges involving felony firearms and being a habitual offender were dropped.
He will now face sentencing in January.
