KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo man being held in an Indiana jail has confessed to committing two bank robberies in Michigan last October.
Authorities say police and FBI agents were able to identify the 35-year-old suspect while investigating robberies at a Chase Bank on October 27th, and the Community Promise Credit Union on October 29th.
Investigators located the suspect in a jail in Steuben County, Indiana.
They were able to talk with the man and said he confessed to both robberies. Law enforcement officials said they were able to get evidence linking him to both robberies.
The first robbery happened at 10:20 a.m. October 27. The suspect walked into Chase Bank at 141 East Michigan Ave. in downtown Kalamazoo and told the clerk he had a gun.
The second robbery happened at 4:13 p.m. October 29 at the Community Promise Credit Union at 1313 Portage Street. The suspect walked in and told the clerk he had bombs.
In both incidents, the suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money.
The 35-year-old man is expected to be arraigned in court Friday.
