KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo County Health Department relaxed its mask advisories last week as new infection rates have declined. This in turn, has prompted local agencies to review their policies, including some mask mandates installed as recently as last week.
The Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners instituted a mask requirement for commissioners at their last meeting, a mandate that may now have to be rescinded.
Kalamazoo City Manager Jim Ritsema says their masking requirement for city meetings is now under review.
Kalamazoo Public Schools recently announced their mask mandate would remain in place for the rest of the school year. The schools facing increased pressure to do more to prevent infections, following the deaths of two students who contracted the virus.
