SPRINGFIELD, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is looking for help in locating a stolen vehicle.
Authorities say the vehicle was discovered on Thursday evening around 9:45 p.m. when sheriff’s deputies were responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle at All Star Transmission at 454 North 20th Street in Springfield.
The caller told dispatchers that they observed a white pickup in the parking lot and believed that the occupant was casing the business to break in or steal from the other vehicles in the lot. Upon arrival, deputies located a white, late model, Chevrolet Silverado pickup with what appeared to be a single male occupant.
The driver then fled through the parking lot and southbound on 20th Street when deputies tried to make contact with him. Despite police lights and sirens, the driver refused to stop. The pursuit was terminated shortly after due to public safety and road conditions.
The attached registration on the suspect vehicle was later found to be stolen out of Battle Creek.
