KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The City of Kalamazoo Department of Public Services is warning people not to have contact with Woods Lake until further notice.
Public service workers were notified early Friday morning, March 18, of a sanitary sewer overflow from a broken sewer pipe 2435 Kensington Drive. City officials believe the overflow may have started on Sunday, March 13.
The amount of material discharged from the broken sanitary sewer is estimated at 5,500 gallons.
The City of Kalamazoo Department of Public Services is coordinating monitoring activities with the Kalamazoo County Environmental Health and Community Services for the impacted area.
As required by law, Water Reclamation Plant personnel notified the Michigan Department of Environmental, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) at the Kalamazoo District Office and the Kalamazoo County Environmental Health Unit of the spill.
