KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office worked a couple incidents involving stolen vehicles on Tuesday, March 22, one with the Michigan State Police.
The first occurrence began in the morning when Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an address in Oshtemo Township for a report of a stolen vehicle. Several larcenies from automobiles had occurred throughout the area during the overnight hours.
After an unsuccessful attempt to locate the vehicle in the morning, a deputy spotted it around 12:20 p.m. at Portage Street and Stockbridge Avenue in Kalamazoo. When deputies tried to make contact, the vehicle sped away and crashed at the intersection of Lake and Race Streets. The suspect then attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended a short time later.

The second, a report of a stolen vehicle in the area of Stadium Drive and 6th Street in Oshtemo Township.
The vehicle sped away when deputies tried to make contact. Michigan State Police Troopers spotted the vehicle on I-94 near Portage Road and attempted a stop at Sprinkle Road. The vehicle fled from troopers and was disabled on Kilgore Road at Portage Road.
The three suspects ran on foot towards I-94 before stealing a construction truck at the I-94 construction site, striking several vehicles while trying to flee the area.
Kalamazoo County Deputies then spotted the truck at Portage Road and Winters Drive and attempted to stop it as it fled south on Romance Road. The suspects then discarded the truck and fled on foot.
Multiple units responded with police K-9’s and tracked the suspects who were located near the scene.
Three juvenile suspects were taken into custody and lodged at the Kalamazoo Juvenile Home on multiple charges.
