BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Battle Creek woman is charged with murder after police say she brutally attacked her partner back in April of this year.
Authorities say Markisha Srackangast, who turned herself into police custody Monday night, June 6, was arraigned on an open murder charge in Calhoun County District Court on Tuesday, June 7.
Srackangast is charged with murdering 33-year-old Ryan Brouse by using a blunt force object to strike him over the head multiple times.
According to court documents, she had called 911 to report Brouse laying on the bed with blood coming out of his head at a Spring Street home back on on April 5.
He was taken to the hospital were he was declared brain dead and was taken off of life support and died the next morning on April 6.
Police say the two were in a dating relationship and had a significant domestic violence history against each other.
Srackangast is currently in custody and is due back in Calhoun County District Court for a preliminary cause hearing on Monday, June 27.
