KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo City Clerk’s Office will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5 for voter registration and absentee balloting.
The two locations open will be the City Hall Office, located at 241 W. South Street, and a branch office in the lower level of the Bernhard Center on the campus of Western Michigan University.
Eligible voters can visit either location to register to vote, request or return an absentee ballot, or vote early by absentee ballot.
Absentee ballots will be available in person Saturday, November 5 and Monday, November 7 until 4:00 p.m. Voters requesting an absentee ballot in person Monday will be required to complete their ballot before leaving the office.
Qualified residents may still register and be eligible to vote on November 8 in person at either location of the City Clerk’s Office, with proof of residency. Voters who register in person on Election Day may vote an absentee ballot in the Clerk’s Office at the time they register. Residents registered to vote in the City prior to Election Day who did not previously obtain an absentee ballot must vote in their precinct.
In order to be counted, absentee ballots must be returned to one of the City Clerk’s Office locations or placed in an official City of Kalamazoo drop box by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8.
“We strongly urge voters to take advantage of their voting options,” said Scott Borling, Kalamazoo’s City Clerk. “We’ve expanded our services to make voting easier and more convenient. Voting by absentee ballot is as secure as voting in person.”
Both City Clerk’s Office locations will be open Monday, November 7 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Offices and polling locations will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
