BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Battle Creek Police are asking for help in locating suspects involved in a shooting that left a Battle Creek Central High School student dead.
Authorities say the incident happened just after midnight on Friday, February 17 in the area of Battle Creek Avenue and Capital Avenue Southwest.
Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch received the 911 call around 12:10 a.m. about gunshots in that area as well as the shooting victim, whom police identified as 17-year-old Jack Snyder. Officers arrived on scene a minute later and found Snyder in the road next to his vehicle. LifeCare Ambulance along with the Battle Creek Fire Department attempted life-saving care, but later pronounced Snyder dead at the scene.
According to a news release from the department, two unknown people were seen in Snyder’s vehicle before the gunshots, and possibly ran from the vehicle afterwards, heading south in the direction of Capital Southwest and East Goguac Street.
Authorities say one of the suspects is described as black and red jacket, with long, messy hair, while the other is described as wearing a black jacket with white patches, and wore a ski-mask-style hat.
Police are asking anyone living in that general area to review any home security camera footage they might have from between the hours of 11:30 p.m. Thursday, February 16, and 1 a.m. Friday, February 17.
They are also asking those who may have seen matching the descriptions of the subjects to call the Battle Creek Police Department at 269-781-0911, or Silent Observer at 269-964-3888.
