CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A 40-year-old Onsted man was arrested Monday morning following a break in at a residence in the 23000 block of J Drive South.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department says a deputy was on patrol at about 8:00 a.m. when he noticed a suspicious subject on private property.
When the deputy attempted to contact the person, he ran away on foot.
Upon further investigation, a door was found to have been forced open at a nearby home. Items taken from the house, including firearms, were placed next to a vehicle in an apparent attempt to remove them from the property.
A K-9 was brought to help with the search for the suspect. The track led into a nearby field where the suspect was located.
He was taken into custody and lodged at the Calhoun County Jail for breaking and entering and resisting police.
Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office deputies were assisted by officers from Albion Department of Public Safety, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, and the Michigan State Police.
