LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Community Service Commission are encouraging Michiganders to nominate individuals, businesses and organizations that have made a difference for others for the 2023 Governor’s Service Awards.
The awards will honor organizations, individuals and businesses in several categories including volunteerism, national service and philanthropy.
“The Governor’s Service Awards honor exceptional people, businesses, and organizations who make Michigan a better place,” said Whitmer. “Each of the winners gets things done that make a real difference in people’s lives, and by recognizing volunteers who go above and beyond, we can be inspired by the power of their example. I encourage every Michigander to find their own way to give back through service and submit nominations for these awards from their community.”
“Michigan has a long tradition of service and helping others,” said Michigan Community Service Commission Executive Director Ginna Holmes. “We ask that you share the stories of those around you serving others and making a difference in people’s lives.”
The deadline to submit a nomination is Friday, June 16.
Michigan’s governors have presented the Governor’s Service Awards since 1994.
