RICHLAND, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Voters in both the Gull Lake Community Schools and Otsego Public Schools voted Tuesday to renew their districts’ non-homestead millages, but by an extremely narrow margin in Gull Lake.
The 18-mill levies do not apply to primary residential homes, but only for businesses and second homes. In Gull Lake, the measure passed by just 34 votes, with 1814 Yes and 1780 No.
Otsego Public Schools voters approved their millage 52% to 48%. The millage is expected to generate about $2.2 million annually for the next 10 years.
Hasting Public Schools passed a $17 million bond for improvements around the district, including to the high school media center and cafeteria, the high school and middle school roofs, bathrooms in various buildings, and technology and HVAC updates.
