KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – City of Kalamazoo Mayor David Anderson would like to remain in that position, announcing his re-election bid Tuesday.
Anderson was first elected to the City Commission in 2005 until being elected mayor in 2019 and 2021.
In a press release announcing his candidacy, Anderson said “While we have made progress while facing significant challenges in the past four years, among them the Covid-19 pandemic, we must continue to work together to address ongoing issues. We’ve been focused on economic development, affordable housing, public safety and climate change, all of which are greatly important to the City.”
“I am running for re-election to be the mayor of Kalamazoo to ensure that everyone, no matter what neighborhood they reside in, is safe, has a place to call home and has access to the wonderful opportunities our community has to offer,” Anderson stated. “Let’s keep building Kalamazoo together.”
Born and raised in the Kalamazoo area, David has previously held leadership positions with neighborhood, civic and public school parent-teacher associations before his first election to the Kalamazoo City Commission in 2005 and elected Mayor in 2019.
Anderson lives in the Stuart Neighborhood with his wife, Cori Terry.
