SPRINGFIELD, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A woman was found dead at the Avenue A Trailer Park in Springfield on Wednesday and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office say a person of interest was arrested in Illinois.
Sheriff’s Department Detectives are investigating the woman’s death as suspicious, but an official cause of death has not been determined by the Calhoun County Medical Examiner.
The Sheriff’s Office says in a news release that deputies were dispatched to perform a welfare check at the trailer park where they learned that a woman inside the residence may have been injured.
They forced their way inside and found the deceased 54-year-old woman.
Deputies identified a person-of-interest that had prior contact with the victim. Law enforcement agencies were notified in the area and surrounding states.
Illinois State Police located a vehicle matching the description that the person-of-interest was driving in Bloomington, Illinois.
Law enforcement tried to stop the vehicle but the driver failed to stop and a pursuit took place. The person-of-interest, a 57-year-old Battle Creek resident was eventually arrested and is in custody on unrelated charges.
